Instructions for new Associate Fellow and Fellow Induction

The final requirement to become a(n) Associate Fellow or Fellow of the Academy is induction into the voting membership. The Academy’s 2017 Annual Business Meeting at which the induction occurs will be held in San Diego, CA at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront on Saturday, October 14.

If you will NOT be present for the Annual Business Meeting, Group Photographs and/or the President’s Celebration, notify Carolina Hernandez by Friday, September 15, 2017, either by email at carolina@aaid.com, phone (1-312-335-1550) or fax (1-312-335-9090).

We will acknowledge your accomplishment in several ways:
  • Photographs of each new Associate Fellows and Fellow are displayed at the 2017 Annual Conference, which will be held, October 11 – 14, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
  • Introduction of the new Associate Fellows and Fellows and induction of the newly credentialed members, the final requirement, will be the first item on the Saturday Business Meeting agenda.  Seating will be available in the room for family members and friends who would like to be present for the introductions and induction. There is no fee to attend the induction ceremony.
  • A professional photographer will take the official group photograph of the 2017 Class of Associate Fellows and Fellows and individual photographs of your induction at the Business Meeting.
  • The new Associate Fellows and Fellows will also be recognized at the President’s Celebration that will be held Saturday evening. During this event, individual photographs of the new Associate Fellows and Fellows will be shown on a large screen as the guests assemble; and each new credentialed member will be introduced before dinner is served. Tickets are required for the President’s Celebration. One ticket is included in your Conference registration. Additional tickets may be purchased for family and guests.
  • After the Annual Conference, your photograph and short biographical sketch will be published in the Winter AAIDNEWS.
  • After the Annual Conference, we would also like to announce your new membership status through a press release to your local media.

To help us with these recognition activities, please send a head and shoulders photograph to the AAID office by August 1, marked Attention:  credentialing. The photo can be either in color or black and white. We recommend the photograph be of professional quality and a plain background as it will be the official headshot printed in the AAIDNews and displayed at the Annual Conference. If you wish to send your photo electronically, send it to photo@aaid.com. For electronic photographs, be sure they are 300 dpi or higher. 

To enable us to send a press release to your local media, please complete the Media Contact sheet and return it to the AAID office by August 1.

Annual Business Meeting

If you will NOT be present for the Annual Business Meeting, Group Photographs and/or the President’s Celebration, notify Carolina Hernandez by Friday, September 15, 2017, either by email at carolina@aaid.com, phone (1-312-335-1550) or fax (1-312-335-9090).

Attendance Required. Business casual (appropriate for professional photos)
DO NOT TAKE personal items (purses, bags, computers, etc.) to the photo or meeting.

Each person will be introduced and receive his or her certificate, and in the case of Fellows, a medallion also, from President  Shankar Iyer and Admissions and Credentials Board Chairman Mario Cabianca. A professional photographer will take a photograph of each presentation. Shortly after the Annual Conference, the photographs will be available for purchase online.

Business Meeting Schedule
1:00 pm  Check In
  • Check in with AAID staff for line up number.

  • New Associate Fellows and Fellows assemble for instructions about the induction ceremony and formation of the introduction line for the Annual Business Meeting.

1:15 pm  Group Photo
  • The new Associate Fellows pose for group photos. The group photographs will also be available for purchase online after the meeting.

1:45 pm Line up
  • Formation of the introduction line for both Associate Fellows and Fellows

  • New credentialed will leave for the Business Meeting together.

  • Family/guests should be at Business meeting for Presentation.

2:00 pm  Presentation of Certificates and Induction

The new Associate Fellows and Fellows enter the Business Meeting together for introduction to the voting membership and the presentation of certificates to the Associate Fellows and certificates and medallions to the Fellows. The new voting members are inducted and stay for the business portion of the meeting.                  

  • A&C Chair and President present certificate. Professional Photograph taken.
  • Sit in the section for New Associate Fellows / Fellows while the rest of the 2017 Class receive their certificates. 
  • ALL stand for the Membership Pledge.
  • Remain for the business meeting and first vote as a new Associate Fellow or Fellow

  • Annual Business Meeting concludes. The new Fellows pose for group photos with medallions

President’s Celebration 

Attendance Encouraged but Not Required. Semi - formal attire (black tie optional)

Join AAID President  Shankar Iyer and the rest of the AAID on Saturday evening, October 14, to enjoy an outstanding meal, dance to some great music, celebrate the new Associate Fellows, Fellows, Diplomates, and other distinguished award recipients.

One Celebration ticket is included with each dentist’s registration to the Annual Conference (except for student registrations). Additional tickets can be purchased for $195 by calling the AAID Headquarters at 312-335-1550 before Friday, September 29, 2017. Tickets are also available onsite at the AAID Registration desk from Tuesday, October 10 through noon, Friday, October 13.

President’s Celebration ticket MUST be exchanged at the AAID Registration desk on Level 2 before noon, Friday, October 13 for dinner table assignment and inform AAID staff of any food allergies.

The Celebration begins with a cocktail reception at 6:00pm. The recognition ceremony, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., will be shown on a large screen, enabling those present to have an up-close view when each person is introduced. No photographs will be made during these introductions.

President’s Celebration Schedule
6:00 pm  Cocktail Reception begins
  • The new Associate Fellows, Fellows and Diplomates check in and receive their assembly number for President’s Celebration recognition. After check-in, enjoy the Cocktail Reception and mingle with other guests.
  • To attend dinner, exchange your ticket at the registration desk for a TABLE assignment Wednesday – Friday (noon)
6:30 pm  Line up
  • At the first dinner chime, the new Associate Fellows, Fellows and Diplomates meet for formation of the introduction line. DO NOT bring personal items such as purses and coats to the line formation. Personal items should be left with your significant other or friends at the reception. 
  • Look for “Line up here” sign by door A.
  • Same line up order/number as Business meeting.
  • Newly Credentialed members line up to walk back stage and receive final instructions.
6:45 pm  Backstage
  • If you are running late, check in with AAID staff to be placed in the lineup.
  • AAID staff will direct you to walk on stage.
  • Stop at the “X” on the floor.
  • Briefly acknowledge the audience (wave, smile, etc.)
  • Join the rest of the group on the stage.
  • After the introductions, join your family and/or friends at your assigned table for dinner and enjoy the rest of the evening.
