Success rates with implant dentistry have been increasing with improving techniques.  More and more implants are being placed with the advent of local courses and mini-residencies. As with any procedure, along with the increase in case numbers, comes the increase in complications. Unfortunately in the future, we could face increases in the number of complications. It is not only important to know how to place implants but how to treat the complications associated with the procedure. Complications can be surgical and or restorative in nature.

This seminar focuses on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of common implant complications in a methodical, scientifically-based step-by-step approach every clinician can use in their office.

• to discuss how medical history and medications can affect our implant treatment
• to treat common implant complications and prevent and manage restorative complications
• to manage intra-operative and post-operative surgical complications
• a method for socket grafting and be able to discuss options if socket grafting doesn’t yield sufficient bone
