He was also Professor of cell biology-anatomy in the School of Graduate Studies and held an appointment at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Steflik's research on tissue responses to implanted biomaterials led to breakthroughs in dental implantology.

The AAIDF Student Research Grants are appropriate for new investigators, post-graduate students, and those resuming their research careers.

Applicants may request up to $2,000 to fund their research project for up to a two-year grant period. Applicants also have the opportunity to attend the AAID Annual Conference and present the project findings once the research is complete, with reimbursement for travel costs.
